James Soares, NWS,
MWS, WW, WSA, CWA will be the instructor for the two Annual Workshops
held in June 2003, in Moscow and Boise. James is a graduate of
Cal-State University Fresno and also attended the Art Center College
of Design majoring in Advertising Illustration. James has worked
as an Art Director, Illustrator, and operated his own Graphic Art business
servicing the graphic art needs of advertising agencies, manufacturers
and corporations.
He is a signature member of the National Watercolor
Society, Midwest Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Alabama Watercolor
Society, California Watercolor Association, and an associate member
of the American Watercolor Society. James has won numerous National
awards, including a purchase award in the National Watercolor Society,
first place in Watercolor West, best of show in the Society of Western
Artists, best of show in the Madera Agricultural Show, best of show
in the California Statewide Open in Santa Cruz, and awards in such prestigious
shows as the Alabama National, the Knickerbocker Annual, the Texas Watercolor
Society Annual, Midwest Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Association,
also acceptances in the American Watercolor Society, Salmagundi Club,
National Audubon Show, Art U.S.A. Show, Adirondacks National, Rocky
Mountain National, and many others.
James was an invited Artist to participate in the
Artist's Cultural Exchange with Artists and Curators from Taiwan, China.
He has served on the Board of Directors and as a Vice-President
of the National Watercolor Society. He was also the Spotlight
featured Artist in Southwest Art magazine and was featured in
Chris Unwin's book The Artistic Touch.
His classes consist of demonstration and lecture on
explaination of composition, color, light and its properies, and how
light creates color and shadow variations. Attendees learn how
to achieve luminous color by undertone and over glazing as well as how
to create from nature and what goes on in nature that an artist must
be aware of for effective paintings. |
